Un mal jefe provoca una alta rotación de personal. Además, un executive con malas dotes para la gestión del personal, perderá parte de la efectividad de los recursos de los que dispone. Las acciones del mal jefe pueden llegar derivar en una subida de un 70% de la rotación de empleados en la empresa. Por otro lado, los mejores directivos hacen que la rentabilidad de la compañía sea un 50% más alta. Aún así, encontrar a un líder a la altura no es fácil.

Según la opinión de John H. Zenger, máximo responsable de la consultora internacional Zenger & Folkman, existe una relación directa entre la efectividad de un líder y los resultados de la organización, tanto en los beneficios como en lo referido a la retención de los empleados, a su compromiso con la empresa, o la satisfacción del cliente, la mejora de la productividad, la innovación o la atracción del talento.

Los datos del estudio realizado por P&A Consultoría y Formación entre 350 directivos de 70 compañías españolas lo dejan patente: el crecimiento de la rentabilidad que consiguen las empresas con líderes medios es del 39,6%, en tanto que si los directivos son extraordinarios esta tasa pasa al 55,8%. Lo mismo sucede con las ventas, que crecen el 14% con los medios y el 16% con los mejores. Incluso con la rotación del personal, del 14,8% para primeros y del 9% para los segundos.

Otros aspectos que también están directamente relacionados con la calidad del líder son la retención de clientes, que es del 88% para el dirigente medio y del 89,6% para el mejor, y el compromiso, pues con los líderes de “primera” sólo el 16,4% de la plantilla piensa en cambiar de trabajo, frente al 25,3% que se lo plantea con los directores medios.
